Sherman Brothers

Sadly, both Sherman Brothers are gone. Of course, their music lives on and continues to inspire.

There’s not much we can say here about the Sherman Brothers that hasn’t already been said. Like John Williams, Ennio Morricone, or Danny Elfman, they contributed so much to the movies we love. I’ve no idea where to even start making a list of my favorite songs to look for covers of. Luckily, Mental Floss has us covered.

‘Let’s Get Together’ from The Parent Trap Covered by several Disney Broadway Stars

‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Yeah, I know it’s not a Disney movie, but let’s listen to Rob Galley’s rock cover anyway.

VoicePlay delights with the a cappella version of ‘The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room’

‘A Spoonful of Sugar’ from Mary Poppins. Another classic song, from a classic film, covered here in a classic TV show

‘There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow’ covered by The Lost Bros

‘I Wan’na Be Like You’ from the Jungle Book. Tessa Violet covering this classic, originally sung by Louis Prima,

MrRunnerholic brings this metal version of ‘Winnie the Pooh’ from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

‘Chim Chim Cher-ee’ from Mary Poppins This beautiful version is covered by Esperanza Spalding on the album Disney Jazz Volume I: Everybody Wants To Be A Cat

‘It’s a small world’ originally from the 1964 World’s Fair. Lang Lang’s album The Disney Book features this excellent instrumental.

‘Substitutiary Locomotion’ from Bedknobs and Broomsticks covered by Judy Carne

‘Feed the Birds’ from Mary Poppins. Of course the list ends with Walt’s favorite. (it’s the first song we posted about) Covered here by one of the musicians we love the most here,  The Disney Song Blog.
