Today’s song is ‘A Whale of a Tale’ from the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
There are bits of the song scattered throughout the film, but you get to hear Kirk Douglas sing the tune in its entirety near the beginning. I have to admit, this song and the squid, are the only things I remember about the film. I’ll have to re-watch it soon!
First up we have Irish folk band The Pattersons on The Morecambe & Wise Show (I’ve not heard of this band, or the show, but they are great).
Now on to Disneyland to hear The Boootstrappers. Come for the piratey take on the song, stay for the fish puns!
Last one for today is Bridget Roberts on ukulele. Does she have a great voice? Sure. Can she play the ukulele well? Absolutely. Am I posting this because of the clapping/backup singer? You betcha!
